Rare Vinyl Music

Let me start off by saying what we are NOT. We are not a "company" or "corporation" making money off rare vinyl music. I've been into punk since 1980 and it is truly a way of life for me. It is who I am, rare vinyl music, and what I will be until I die. I started Dr. Strange Records in 1988 in an effort for like, rare vinyl music, minded people to get rare punk records for FAIR prices.

Complete Selection of Rare Vinyl Music

My "hobby" has not only turned into the biggest mailorder for rare vinyl music in all the world, but also a record label (in 1989) and a store in California (opened in 1997). We're a small rare vinyl music operation...there's myself, my wife and my three friends: Chaddie, Hot Dog Boy and Thom-Ass doing the best we can to get you the best rare vinyl music "stuff" for the best prices.

On the quiet corner of Amethyst Street and Lomita Drive, amid a residential neighborhood and the future site of a retirement home, the pierced and tattooed flock from miles around -- particularly after 3 p.m. when school gets out. "Our typical customer is a 16-year-old punk kid, maybe with a mohawk, or body piercings," Plaster said. "But nine out of ten are really cool people. We've never had a complaint from the neighbors, and I think that they like having us here." Not that Dr. Strange Records is completely at peace with the suburban ethic. The store embraces the rebelliousness and irreverence of rare punk music culture -- typical band names include The Subversives, Bad Religion, and the Beastie Boys. The record label's motto: "Our disease is spreading."
